by Albertus SEBA (publisher) (1665 - 1736) "Variety of shells" (Achatina, Phalium, Megalobulimus ...) Original etching signed in plate in the lower center "F. Morellon La Cave Sculp. " (Francois Morellon de La Cave, engraver active in Amsterdam during the XVIII century) coming from the graphic kit of the magnificent work entitled "Locuplentissimi rerum naturalum Thesauri accurate descriptio", of which is the table n ° LXXI, edited by Albertus Seba and published in Amsterdam by J. Wetsten, William Smith, Jansson-Waesberg and others between 1734 and 1769. Beautiful double-page copy printed on laid paper bearing "Fleur de Lys" watermark similar to Heawood 1710, referable to the active French paper mill D'Angoumois in the eighteenth century, with good margins beyond the imprint of the slab and in an almost perfect general state of conservation. Enriched by the magnificent tempera coloring corresponding to the original of the Royal Library of Den Haag. Bibliography: Anker "Bird Books and Bird Art" Amsterdam 1979 n ° 454. "Catalog of the books manuscripts maps and drawings in the British Museum (Natural History)" London 1903 - 1940 vol.4 pag.1889. Heawood "Monumenta chartae papyraceae" Hilversum 1986 n ° 1710. Landwehr "Studies in Dutch Books with colored plates 1662 - 1875" The Hague 1976 n ° 179. Nissen "Die Zoologische Buchillustration" Stuttgart 1969 No. 3793. Measurements in mm: 443 x 565
